Rome and Back again

This February I went on a mini trip to Rome (and Brussels) with my family. But this is not the first time I have ever been to Rome this was in fact my second time and each time was different.

I went to Rome with my mum for the first time in 2013. Again it was a mini break which also included a trip to Venice which I preferred at the time. We went in May so the weather was close to shorts sort of weather and of course we went to all the usual tourist spots. We went to the Vatican museum where we saw loads of beautiful paintings, artifacts and statues. While there we also sawΒ the Sistine chapel with its iconic painting done by Michelangelo…

If you decided to go to the Sistine chapel, be prepared to look up…..a lot πŸ™‚

We then saw the Colosseum and the other archaeological sites surrounding it and lastly trevi fountain. I found Rome to be quite dirty the first time I went to it so i wasn’t overly taken by it, but this time however I didn’t. Now I don’t know whether that’s because we went at a different time of year or what, I don’t know.

This time when I went to Rome, again I went to the Colosseum and even got a chance to see it all lit up on an evening

But this time I also got a chance to go around Rome on my own, so with my new found freedom I took my time and went to Castel Sant’Angelo this time (although every time I was heading to it people kept asking was I going to the Vatican)

I was in awe of the rooms, which you see the further you go in to Castel Sant’Angelo51993370_2330881526944593_1673973704163328000_n.jpg

Stunning and I loved seeing the little museum they had within. (I’m a bit of a history nerd so I got giddy upon seeing artifacts)

I then moved on to Trevi Fountain again (which so you know the movies lie, it’s always busy)Β 52327043_371973830191195_77572177427169280_n.jpg

I got to the fountain and made a wish, which obviously I ain’t going to share because it wont come true other wise πŸ™‚

Both times going to Rome have been great and I learnt many things about myself while I was there this time.

If you have Rome on your travel bucket list I would defiantly recommend you go. It caters for all I feel. If your going for romance there are many different spots to eat and go with your sweetheart, if your going for the history Rome is full of it (hope you like the Romans), if your going for the night life Rome looks beautiful at night. What ever you like I am sure Rome has got it.

  1. Both of us love Rome and have visited many times since we live close by (Copenhagen Denmark). Rome is one of my favorite city in the world.
About the Trevi Fountain – I still believe it might make your wish come true:)
I was there in the 80s with my parents (we lived on the other side of the world back then) and I throw a coin as I want to go back there, and now…. we keep coming back πŸ™‚

    1. Copenhagen, what was it like living there? Denmark is one of the many places I would love to visit one day πŸ™‚
I believe that too, that’s why I made a wish each time I’ve been πŸ™‚
Wow that’s awesome, your wish came true πŸ™‚ I obviously won’t ask what other wises you’ve made, coz they wont come true other wise, but that sounds awesome. Are you going to be going to Rome again this year?

      1. It is nice – particularly during summertime when the days are long – not so much when it keeps raining during the fall and winter.

No plans to go to Rome for the moment – but you never know for sure what will happen during the year.
