9 Day Water Challenge

Recently I watched a quick little video on YouTube which talked about the benefits of drinking water.

Some of these benefits involve weight loss, youthful looking skin, cleansing the body by flushing all negative toxins out and many more. It mentioned in the video that if you replace all other drinks with water then you can actually lose weight. So this is what I have decided to give a go.

For 9 days I am going to replace all drinks with water. Now that shouldn’t be too hard because I drink water with my meals most days anyway, so to make it a bit more interesting for me I have also decided to work out every day for the 9 days and try cut back on snacking, making sure that if I do snack it is on fruit and veg rather than chocolate and crips.

The reason why I have also decided to mix in working out and being a more mindful snacker into the mix is because, well I am not 100% happy with my body. Now i know 50% of that is to do with the mind and believe me I am getting better at appreciating and even loving my body, but still i know there are areas that I can improve on, and with this it all ties together.

  • Water helps the body and mind
  • Food choices help to fuel the body/mind and soul (never restrict what you want, just make smarter choices and eventually your body will crave the food that fuels, instead of drains your body)
  • Exercise helps the mind and strengthens the body

Doing a 9 day challenge is going to be interesting for me because I tend to get bored or I can’t be bothered no matter how much I complain that i’m unfit or uncomfortable in myself. I have more excuses as to why I shouldn’t try looking after myself than I do to encourage myself to look after myself. I even fallow people because they are fitness minded and even though they spur me on for maybe a day or two it never lasts. So that is why I have decided to write this post. I want to keep myself accountable for this challenge, and with it only being 9 days it doesn’t seem as daunting as it would if I set myself a 30 day challenge.

So day one is down, I haven’t had a single drink that wasn’t water and I worked out this morning which consist of

  • 10 Squat kicks
  • 10 lunges (each side)
  • 20 kneeling leg rises (each side)
  • 20 elbow tap and side leg rises (each side)
  • 10 parachutes
  • 30 laying down weight lift
  • 10 weighted bridge
  • 20 bicycle crunches
  • 20 raised legs crunches

Taking small steps to a better me, and who knows what will happen after day 9? maybe i will do another 9 🙂 ….
